Spinal Traction

Traction (also known as decompression therapy) is a non-surgical, non-invasive and effective treatment for sufferers of chronic and acute neck and low-back pain. It helps to relax the muscles, which can significantly relieve pain and stiffness while increasing flexibility. It’s also used to treat and flatten bulging or herniated disks, as well as for treating neck injuries, pinched nerves, and cervical spondylosis. Traction can alleviate pain from joints, sprains, and spasms.

Traction may be helpful for people with problems related to the vertebral disc including:

  • Sciatica
  • Disc Herniation and Bulges
  • Degenerative Discs
  • Failed Low Back Surgery
  • Posterior Facet Syndrome
  • Spinal Stenosis/Arthritis
  • Pinched nerves
  • Cervical disc disease
  • Misalignment of cervical bones
  • Spondylosis
  • Spinal Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Scoliosis‌

How Traction Works

Traction relieves intra-disc and nerve pressure by applying negative pressure. Stretching the spine creates a gap in between the discs. With the improved flow of nutrients between the vertebrae, the injuries heal slowly and steadily.

Pain relief is achieved by moving areas of herniated disc back into place, drawing disc material back into the disc space and relieving pressure. Traction strengthens the outer ligament bands that hold the disc material in place to help prevent the disc from bulging or herniating again.
